Cobb County Schools to be completely virtual in teaching for 2020. You’re hearing that right!
In-Person Teaching Option Cancelled
The Cobb County School System is one of the largest systems in Georgia. It had recently announced that the students will have a choice to learn online or in the classroom, depending on their parents’ choice. A quick timeline was offered to make the decision, but was quickly delayed for 17 days.
July Cobb County School Board Meeting
The school board met again on July 16, 2020, for their monthly board meeting. They have reversed the decision to offer in-person schooling – a decision largely made the the Superintendent of the school system, Mr. Ragsdale. He has stated that, “this decision has been weighing on me for a while. I know we need to get back to face-to-face instruction. That is why we tried to offer parents two options—in-person and virtual—to start the school year. Unfortunately, public health guidance does not make that possible.”
